Kristy
Hi, my name is Kristy! I attended Alberta college of massage therapy and obtained my 2200 hour massage therapy diploma in June of 2019. I am currently trained in therapeutic/deep tissue massage, Swedish relaxation massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation stretching, joint mobilizations and assessing the body through its ranges of motions and special tests. Since school I have taken extra training in myofascial cupping and hot stone massage which are greatly paired with a massage treatment.
I absolutely love every part of my job I find that massage is tailored to each client as each person has a different healing process. I would consider myself to be pointed more towards a deep tissue/therapeutic massage therapist but I will always tailor what I do for what the client asks for or what there body tells me it needs. I am currently upgrading my knowledge to be a manual osteopathic therapist as I found after I exhausted myself on some clients trying to figure out what was wrong and why their body wasn’t responding as I’ve tried every way I’ve been trained to help them so I knew there must be another way. So I found myself searching for more ways to help heal their bodies and it pointed me towards manual osteopathic therapy. I decided the course was for me as it gives me a whole new outlook on how to help the body heal so I am now being trained in visceral organ manipulation, craniosacral therapy, lymphatic drainage, osteoarticulation corrections to correct any bone dysfunctions through muscle energy techniques and myofascial remodelling. I am only half way through the program but it’s already given me a whole new outlook on how and why the body continues to hold tension from trauma or repetitive activities..
